When the Phillies got into the playoffs, I have to admit I was lukewarm when it came to expectations. I've always been of the thinking that a team limping into the playoffs was kind of a waste. I'd rather just get the pain over early and move on to the next sport. In this case, let the Phillies be done with, and let's move on to the Eagles.
Well, I have to admit I never expected this run. To my great surprise, this team has been incredible team! When the World Series started I had a discussion with my son and we both agreed that at this stage no matter what happens for the Phillies to get this far and in such a fun team to watch, whatever happened after this was all gravy.
Watching last night's game was just so much fun!!! Hearing the crowd at the Bank, watching this home run derby of a game, seeing them go up 2-1, and knowing that they can now win it at home, now I'm starting to get greedy. I just want them to just keep bashing the ball, shutting down the Astros' hitters, and completing the series in Philly.
I remember attending playoff games back in 08 and 09. Getting to be in the park when Holiday pitched his no-hitter, the sound of the crowd, and tailgating before the game, such great memories! Yet this team in some ways seems even more special. I just love their enthusiasm in the dugout! It's contagious! Great energy!
As with San Diego, I don't want to see them having to get on a plane back to Houston. Let's wrap this up in Philly and show the world what were are made of! For all of those who thought Houston would easily glide through the World Series, I say, "Welcome to Philly." As Bryce said, "This is my house."
Game 4 is a critical game. I believe it could make or break the Phillies' World Series chances. They have to get off to a quick start and Nola really needs to pitch the game of his life. The bats need to keep going and if they get a lead keep their foot on the pedal. Do not give the Astros a chance to come back.
