Today, I'm still somewhat in disbelief that the Phillies are going to the World Series. Will somebody pinch me? I'm way out in Oregon, out in the woods, with a temperamental satellite feed attempting to watch the series in between buffering of the feed. In part, I'm anxious about the Phils and in part worried about the feed. There were critical moments in the series, particularly the last two games when in crucial moments the feed would start buffering. Your killing me here!
However, the baseball gods shined their light down upon me for game 5 and didn't have any buffering problems. The only problem I had was being about 30 seconds behind in the broadcast. Texting back and forth with my son throughout the games became a dance between hearing about Bryce Harper's home run in the bottom of the eighth just prior to seeing it.
There were so many superstitions and rituals that occurred during the games. For example, I don't begin the countdown of outs until the sixth inning (12 outs) and only if the Phillies are leading. Of course, the countdown came to an immediate halt in the top of the seventh inning. After the Bryce homer, the countdown went back up in my texting with my son.
When Nola hit that fly ball to right field for the third out I was part ecstatic and part in disbelief. Is this real? Did the Phillies make it to the world series? What a journey so far! Of course, I'd be out of my mind if they were to win the World Series, but I'd be totally happy with the journey we've been on so far.
I can't wait to sit back, at least at the start of the game, and just take in the idea that the Phillies are in the World Series. THE PHILLIES ARE IN THE WORLD SERIES!!!! Can you believe it?
